Nordic Research Seminar on Non-formal Adult Education (2011)

Freedom and Responsibility in Non-formal Adult Education

The research seminar on non-formal/liberal/popular adult education was held in December 8-9, 2011 in Helsinki. The venue was at the Helsinki City Adult Education Center.

The purpose of the seminar was

  • to view and discuss the present non-formal AE research in the Nordic countries, to locate current needs for research, and to suggest new initiatives.
  • to promote and to strengthen the Nordic research and collaboration in an inclusive way.

Freshly finished, ongoing and new research projects from the Nordic countries were presented during the seminar.

The organizer was Finnish Adult Education Association in cooperation with

  • the NVL thematic research network,
  • the Finnish national research project on Liberal Adult Education (Freedom and Responsibility in Liberal Adult Education) and
  • the Helsinki City Adult Education Center.
